On a day when President Trump is posting dozens of times on Truth Social, the business of selling those posts is getting attention. Trump Media & Technology Group shares were up about 5% in early afternoon trading, but the stock remains near its 52-week low, and the product that may matter most to its revenue, early data access for trading firms, is also its most controversial.
Paying for Milliseconds
According to a Reuters report published Oct. 28, Bloomberg and the high-frequency trading firms Susquehanna International Group and Jump Trading have agreed to pay for faster access to the president’s Truth Social posts, citing people with direct knowledge of the matter. The service sells for up to $100,000 a month, Reuters reported, and Trump Media officials have described the timing advantage as 50 milliseconds. Bloomberg, Jump and Susquehanna declined to comment, according to Reuters.
Trump Media announced the fastest-access product in July. In August it told investors it had signed more than 10 customer agreements, primarily with Wall Street trading firms paying $60,000 to $100,000 a month, figures Reuters said it could not independently confirm. In a statement quoted by Reuters, the company said Truth Social offers “an industry-standard API product for which there is significant demand across industries.”
Why Traders Want It, and Why Critics Object
The logic for trading firms is simple. Presidential posts on tariffs, trade or the economy have moved markets within minutes in the past, and automated systems can read a post and trade on it in a fraction of a second. A head start of 50 milliseconds is irrelevant to a human reader and potentially valuable to an algorithm.
That is also the objection. Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff asked the SEC in July to investigate, calling the arrangement a “shocking abuse” of office, according to Reuters; the SEC declined to comment. Intercept Media and the Freedom of the Press Foundation sued Trump in August, seeking to stop the White House from posting official announcements only on Truth Social, and the case is ongoing. A Trump Media spokesperson said congressional Democrats “continue to mischaracterize Truth API,” Reuters reported.

The Stock Tells a Different Story
Shares were around $5.96 at 1:20 p.m. Eastern, up about 5.2% on the day, based on Yahoo Finance data. Even so, they are trading close to their 52-week low of $5.40 and about 65% below their 52-week high of $17.09. In my view, the data-feed contracts show that the content has commercial value, but at $60,000 to $100,000 a month per customer, even a few dozen subscribers would be small next to the market’s doubts about the platform’s audience and its broader business. The next quarterly report should give investors a better sense of how much this product actually contributes.
