Dynatrace (NYSE: DT) closed down 14.66% on Tuesday, Nov 3, 2026, according to StockTitan’s close-of-session wrap, with Public.com showing a regular-session close of $47.03, against a prior close of $55.13 reported by MarketBeat. The software company beat quarterly estimates but lowered its profit outlook. Data as of the Nov 3, 2026 close.

What Happened: A Clean Beat With a Catch

The quarter itself was solid. According to Dynatrace’s release for its fiscal second quarter of 2027, total revenue rose 17% to $579.9 million, subscription revenue grew 17% to $553.1 million and annual recurring revenue (ARR) increased 16% to $2.207 billion. Non-GAAP EPS was $0.54, compared with $0.44 a year earlier. According to Investing.com, analysts had expected revenue of $568.0 million and EPS of $0.49.

The catch was in the outlook. Dynatrace closed its acquisition of Arize, an AI observability company, on Oct. 1, and folded it into its full-year guidance. The company raised its ARR and revenue forecasts but cut its profitability targets.

Why It Moved: Paying More for Growth

The documented driver is the profit guide. According to the release, Arize adds about 200 basis points to ARR growth but dilutes the operating margin by about 175 basis points. Full-year non-GAAP EPS guidance of $1.88 to $1.90 now sits below the $1.91 consensus cited by Investing.com, and third-quarter EPS guidance of $0.44 to $0.45 is also below the roughly $0.48 that Investing.com said analysts expected.

Valuation likely magnified the reaction, though this is an interpretation. IBTimes noted that the stock traded at roughly 115 times trailing earnings before the report and that software stocks had been under broad pressure the previous week. At that kind of multiple, a guide-down on profits, even one tied to a strategic acquisition, tends to be punished. Management also acknowledged on the call, according to transcripts, that net new ARR was below its expectations because of the timing of enterprise deals.

CEO Rick McConnell argued in the release that “the need for enterprise-grade observability and governance has never been greater,” framing Arize as a bet on monitoring AI applications. At least one broker trimmed its expectations: according to MarketBeat, BTIG cut its price target to $63 from $73 while keeping a Buy rating. That is BTIG’s opinion, not ours.

Context: Software Lagged While Chips Rallied

The broader tape was split on Election Day. According to Yahoo Finance market data, the S&P 500 closed up 0.36% at 7,568.92 on Nov 3, 2026, the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.83% to 25,372.01 on a rebound in chip stocks, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.38% to 51,786.72, weighed down by Apple. Software was on the other side of that trade. According to TheStreet’s live coverage, Gartner, Shopify and Palantir were among the other notable earnings-day decliners as investors debated the returns on AI spending.

Despite the drop, the stock is not at an extreme. MarketBeat lists a 52-week range of $31.64 to $66.30, and StockStory said the shares were still up about 15% for the year after Tuesday’s decline.

What to Watch: The Investor Day Targets

Dynatrace gave investors a date to circle. According to the release, it will hold an Investor Day on Feb. 16, 2027 in Las Vegas, alongside its Perform conference, where management plans to outline multi-year targets toward a “Rule of 50” in fiscal 2029, defined as constant-currency ARR growth plus non-GAAP operating margin. The company also authorized an additional $1 billion buyback, bringing remaining capacity to about $1.3 billion, after repurchasing $246 million of stock in the quarter. Third-quarter guidance calls for revenue of $591 million to $596 million and a 26% non-GAAP operating margin.

The market voted against near-term dilution on Tuesday. The Investor Day will show whether management can make the long-term math for Arize convincing.
